One of the things that I have let slide in the past years are the connections I've made. I consider myself blessed with the number of people that actually like me. Boggles my mind it does. As I'm in a state of flux, which is a new thing of course : ) , I decided this would be better than starting my own web page because one my computer is broken and two I'm not to sure where I'll end up and the internet resources that will be available. At some point I will set up my own domain and the name will again be the sea of Curtis but when it will happen. . . Oddly enough I try to keep my future as vague as possible which sometimes poses a problem with my friends. I'm the tumbling tumbleweed or plankton upon the sea of life to use a metaphor that appeals to me. So without any further ado, slip into the water, it feels fine. Curtis
| | So I was struck with the urge to write today, probably because I read one of my favorite bloggers after a long absence and I'm missing the old days of picking up at the drop of a hat and traveling to new and unknown destinations. . . Stina is her name and when I checked in on her today she was in Vietnam, I never made it to Vietnam but Thailand gave me many a memory and next time I head back to that part of the world Laos and it's 10,000 Islands will be my destination. --- On a random note, Dengue Fever, an American band that sings Cambodian music, check them out. Back to the regularly scheduled entry --- Here's her blog, check it out if you have the time. I like the way she writes and her photos. http://www.stinasieg.com/ As far as getting my travel fix, I guess by the time Isaiah is 30 I can start spending money on my desires again, 28 years to go :) After getting the urge to type my fingers off for your reading pleasure the dilemma of what to blog, what to share, whatever shall I disseminate. . . . That sounds like an easy question but when you have as many photos as I do it becomes a process. I decided I'd open my folder and see what struck me and this folder popped out at me. I had forgotten all about my trip to this island on Lake Constance. This butterfly garden is probably the best I've been to by far(maybe 15 or 20 in my travels which may not seem like a lot but they aren't just on every corner). Here's a link to the island which was gorgeous by itself, http://www.mainau.de/home.html I'll have to share those pictures at some later time. Anyway, go enjoy the photos. . .and no I don't know names for any of them :) It's a challenge for you |
| | So I was fortunate enough to have work in Hawaii for the new year. Doubly fortunate I guess, one to be working and two to be in Hawaii. I started out on Maui. I came a little early in the hopes of getting a dive in or a kayaking trip. . . Yep, it's my universe and things never go according to plan. I did get a chance to hike to a waterfall though and the hotel was right on the beach so I enjoyed that as well. And just to let you know I'm starting out January on the right foot. My goal is to blog at least once a month if not twice. I was talking to a lady last night and I mentioned how my vocabulary was fading as I don't use it, an atrophying skill if you will(how many times in my normal day can I throw out atrophying and have it be appropriate I ask you). There's a joy in conveying just the right nuance and writing, even such short pieces as my blog, helps refine the art. So you have been warned, prose and other sorts of whimsy will appear - I might even break out the poetry, gasp, the horror. . . |
So another year has come and gone and you look back and wonder just where it went. Well, my sprout is growing by leaps and bounds. Pretty soon he'll be taller than me There's nothing like holding him, it never gets old. . .wait, explosive, diarrhea diapers, very old!!! Started out the year by the ocean so hopefully that will set the standard for the year. Nothing like the wind, water, and sand. . . The day started out with a sign so I knew life is good
Then the sun set and left behind that soothing orange glow to usher in the night
Life is good, life is good. . . I hope you all had a great beginning to the year and may it exceed your wishes and desires!
Warm fuzzies to all!!!!
How is it that you wake up some days and it seems years have gone by in the blink of an eye and other days you wake up to Groundhog Day? This is one of those years passing days. My boy turned one, came out of nowhere. . . And like his dad he knows what to do with cake. . . Simple joys, sometimes we forget about them. . . Hurricane Irene came through the area, some damage but the main thing is the internet is out, 11 days and counting. . . The local coffee shops have never seen so much of me : ) There have been some speed bumps in the roadway of life but you do what you can. . . I hope all of you are well!!!
Ever have those times when a movie parallels your life, well such is a moment in my life. . . On Sunday August 8th, 2010 at 11:07 am, weighing 7 pounds 4 oz. and measuring 19.7 inches in Zurich, Switzerland Isaiah Sebastian Lenherr came into this world as the fruit of my loins : ) Surprised, jaw hitting the floor, got questions, well join the club. . . It all began in a galaxy far, far away in the not so distant past(hey it’s my story and I can tell it as I like) in Utila, Honduras, December of 2008. I was on one of my walkabouts - diving, playing foosball and talking trash(I’m sure you can guess which one I’m best at) Over a game of foosball I stuck up a conversation with two ladies and a gent traveling togetherish. I don’t know whether it was the whupping I put on them or the amount of trash I was talking as I did it that made it so memorable for them but we became amigos. Of course me being the gentleman that I am nothing improper happened among us amigos. . . (I’ve always been a fan of the long dramatic pause. . .) The two ladies and I left the island the same day and bid our tearful farewells and we’ll keep in touch promises. Surprisingly we actually we did keep in touch.
Fast forward to time for the annual walkabout months later and what do you know, I can squeeze in a trip to Zurich, Switzerland(are you biting your nails in suspense, what ever will happen?) Time comes and I make it over to Switzerland and have a grand ole time(check out Lucerne if you’re over this way, beautiful) We all hang out and I get the guided tours. Once again it’s leaving day and we bid our tearful farewells and we’ll keep in touch promises. . . Fast forward again to the future, I get an email saying I left more than expected(I’m thinking a sock???) and I continue reading and then there’s the part where she’s pregnant. . .my first response is laughter. I mean, I am one impressive specimen and the stork has been hounding me for years trying to deliver a package, furthering the species, leaving a legacy, blah, blah. Well, it was the stork’s lucky day!!! After I finished laughing I went down and had a drink at the hotel bar which happened to be empty except for the bartender and as far as bartenders go he was unimpressive so I had my drink and carried my butt off to never never land without having expounded upon the mysteries of the universe. Emails flew fast and furious, Um, what’s your last name again, your sign was what again, baby names????, I like sunset walks along the beach, I’m allergic to snails. . . Seriously though, think about having to get to know someone and planning to bring a life into this wacky world. . . and the ever present “Us” We went back and forth many a time, emotions running the gamut and the only thing we one hundred percent agreed on was that our child would be loved, regardless of “Us”, the rain in Spain, the price of rice in China, whatever.
My take on children is that they didn’t ask to be brought into this world so it’s the parent’s responsibility to do the best they can for them. I never knew my biological dad and my mom remarried when I was 10 but throughout the years one thing I’ve always known is that my mom is there for me, come hell or high water, through all the crap I get into and put her through, she loves me! Now she might wish I went a different route in some things but who’s perfect(although I might be pretty darn close). . . That’s my take on children in general and my kid specifically. So the emails continued and I came over here to spend time with mama to be (Kathrin in case you’re curious) so we weren’t complete strangers. . . She didn’t want to know the sex so I had no idea. Time crept on and the “due date” kept getting closer and I’m still clueless with lots of questions without answers. I never expected to have a kid and my lifestyle isn’t the most conducive to rearing a child but c’est la vie. As plankton I know all about taking what life dishes out. The emails are a going and skype is a skyping. One day I’m in route to a friend’s house and I get a phone call, “Um, Curtis, my water broke”. . . Damn, 2 weeks early and me 5,000 miles away, life you’re killin me!!! So I went and huddled at my mom’s house while I waited for updates and finally on Sunday I was rewarded with news of my son. And now I sit here in Dallikon, Switzerland, more tired than I expected, still stunned, still clueless but having beheld my son in the flesh and cradled him to my breast. Happy and proud to have helped bring a new spark into this world and might I say it’s a damn fine spark named Isaiah Sebastian Lenherr. . .but as for the rest of this tale, surprises, jaw hitting the floor, got questions, well join the club and we'll find out together. . .

| | My life is random. . .an illustration of this is Bonnaroo vs US Open in golf. I went to both this year and they were back to back so I finished up in 100 degree weather in the middle of Tennessee to head to upper crust Monterey, California. Over a 100,000 screaming, drunk, high music fans to polite clapping, polo shirt wearing, get in the hole shouting golf affectionados. Guess which one I preferred and which one paid more money. . . I worked the main stage this year with Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Cliff, Nas and Damian Marley, John Fogerty, Tenacaious D, Dave Matthews Band and this really good band from New Orleans whose name I can't remember at the moment. Once again, not enough nudity at either event : ) but I usually expect to see more at Bonnaroo. What is up people, where is the skin, I mean love : ) The mud pit at Bonnaroo was a good addition this year and of course the fountain always remains a favorite. AND, this is most important, Boyd Tinsley looks nothing like me, nothing I tell you!!! I had dreads for a while and people were always coming up to me and asking if I was he and now that I've seen the guy in the flesh, I say strongly, He looks nothing like me, zero, zip, zilch, nada, nil!!!! Don't make me have to repeat myself. So go enjoy Bonnaroo 2010, I did!!! |
| | Always a treat to head to San Fran, the food, the culture, my friends. . . I hadn't made it over yonder in a spell so I had the time and the Green Festival was happening so I thought it was a sign. I had an agenda and like most of my agendas it didn't exactly happen like I planned : ) Missed a couple of friends, missed the Conservatory and the de Young, missed my favorite sushi place in the Tenderloin, missed volunteering at the Food Bank but the trip wasn't a total loss : ) Found a new dive bar, saw some plants I hadn't seen before, met some cool new people, saw some cool old friends, attended the Green Festival ( http://www.greenfestivals.org/ ), won a scavenger hunt in San Jose, made it to the California Academy of Sciences(CAS), went dancing to the sounds of Karl Denson(awesome), all sorts o' stuff. The CAS and the San Jose adventure will be covered elsewhere except for the statement that you should check out CAS if you're in town. All of these pics are from the Golden Gate Park. Enjoy : ) |
| | So one of my goals this year is to do a better job of blogging, 21 days later here's the first installation. . .actually it's 30 days later as I had some photo issues. . .
I'll backtrack from today and hopefully when I stop we'll all be on the same page : ) Currently I'm in Maui working a golf tournament for the Golf Channel. First time working out in Hawaii and also the first time running a camera. Oh sure, I've used motion cameras before but having to do it with all eyes upon you changes the situation a tad bit : ) Usually I am the guy behind the guy behind the camera. We have what's called RF cameras and they are designed to go where the action is and get the shot and my usual job is to find the receiving tower and make sure my transmitting pole is pointed at it so they get a nice clear picture in the truck and on your tv. Easy enough you say, well factor in trees, houses, water, stands, the flux of the moon. . .it's almost voodoo to be quite honest. Sometimes a single step to the left will make the signal excellent, sometimes the same spot I've shot from for 3 days is no good the 4th day, another pointer can come and point beside me and their signal is great and mine is no good. . .voodoo. Anyway, this week I'm the camera guy and the first day could have gone a little better. . .okay the first day could have gone a lot better, a whole lot better!!!! But learning is the name of the game and I got kudoos yesterday so hopefully I'll continue to improve or I'll be demoted. . . Next week I'll be in Honolulu and back to my normal position and the week after I'll be in Palm Springs, CA carrying a microphone to get audio of the players and then some time off.
Originally I was coming in 2 days early for this job and I was going to go diving somewhere and go kayaking with the whales. It's whale season here so they hang out for a few months. In fact, from my camera position I can see the whales frolicking in the water. The universe had other plans for me of course. My flight on the first of January had issues and was delayed enough that I couldn't make my connection so I had to fly out the next day. Well that threw all my plans out the window and when I landed I called up my kayak guide and explained the situation and he offered to let me crash at his place. So I accepted his offer and met some of his friends after he picked me up from the airport and then rose at the the late hour of 5:30 the next morn to head out kayaking. It was incredible, the whales were surfacing 60 or 70 feet from me. They are huge critters and I did see one breach (where the whale jumps out of the water) but it was a little far away. My camera skills were not up to the challenge but we can't win them all. Then I snorkeled and the turtles came out to play. . .I should have some nice video to show at some point. We went and had lunch and then picked up some of his friends and took the north road to my hotel near Lahaina. Once again, an excellent time was had. Nothing like having a local guide for getting a taste of a place. All in all an excellent day!!!
Two days before that I had returned from Belize for 10 day trip. The people are great, probably the friendliest country I've ever been to. The food was great and the scenery was beautiful. And it wasn't as expensive as I had been led to believe. I dove the first couple of days, sharks, turtles and the usual suspects. My favorite was the small stuff of course. One of the guides found a nudibranch and I spent 5 or 10 minutes trying to get a good picture. . .once again, my camera skills were not up to the task : ( I went diving with Frenchie's and I highly recommend them, the staff was excellent. After a few days on Caye Caulker I was getting antsy and decided I'd head to the jungle and see what could be seen. Last year when I went to Utila, Honduras I enjoyed myself so much I never left the island for my three weeks but the vibe on Caye Caulker, while nice, didn't motivate me to spend my full time there. Next time I'll make it down south to Tobacco Caye and Glover's Reef which might be closer to my cup of tea. Regardless, I headed to San Ignacio to base my jungle explorations out of. I stayed at the Cahal Pech Village Resort Hotel which overlooks San Ignacio. One odd thing about this trip, for me anyway, normally I stay in the cheap places, hostels and whatnot and this time I splurged and all of my rooms had towels, tvs, ac, wireless and toilet paper, spare rolls even. It was an odd travel experience for me. The resort was nice but I'd catch myself looking around and thinking to myself what are you doing here. . . Anyway, I went to the ATM (Actun Tunichil Muknal ) caves on Christmas Day and the Caracol Mayan ruins the next day. I've been caving before but this was the first one that included parts where you had to swim, it was nice. We trekked in to where the Mayans performed ceremonies and my hat is off to them Along with the parts you needed to swim, the narrow crevices you have to squeeze through, carrying a torch instead of the handy headlights on helmets that we had and to carry huge pots, stones and other things needed to perform the ceremonies. . .daunting to say the least. Of course my camera battery died once I made it to the main area. . . I'll just have to do it again : ) Did I mention the 8 inch cave spiders, bats, and centipedes. . . The Mayan ruins were cool, sad to see how much of their history has been vandalized and stolen but that's human nature : ( I also made it to the Cahal Pech ruins which are very near the resort, 3 minutes walking in fact. The condition of those ruins was better than Caracol in my opinion. I also made it to the botanical garden. . .I know what a shocker : )
Before that I was down in Florida for the work in West Palm Beach for a week and before that I was in Zurich for the first time for about 9 days. The time in West Palm Beach was unremarkable but I had a great time in Zurich. I stayed with a friend and met her friends and spent most of the time around Zurich but we did take the train to Luzern and had an awesome day. The town itself is gorgeous and the architecture is fantastic. I'm not usually a fan of structures but that town is definitely beautiful. We took the trolley up to the top and enjoyed the view from there. You can see forever from the top. Also, I went to two botanical gardens in Zurich!!! I'll be back in Switzerland at some point. . .
To back up further, it was a very busy year for work. I never really had a chance to get into a groove. I went back to Lake Geneva summer camp as a counselor after a long hiatus. It's in a new location and it will take me a few camps before I get totally comfortable with it but it was good to see some old friends. The garden started out well but do to travel I wasn't able to maintain it as well as I would have liked. It was mostly for my niece but she wasn't into pulling the weeds if I wasn't there : ) Tons o' cucumbers, peppers, and collards plus the sunflowers were gorgeous. Also, I'm an uncle again. My sister gave birth to a wrinkly baby boy named Spencer in the spring!!! I'm the last of the kids to not have kids which I know is surprising to all you out there : ) Also made it up to Calgary, Canada to visit a friend. It was gorgeous but immigration was the worst experience I've ever had and I've been through many an immigration. I think that's most of the highlights for 2009. It was a busy year, met some good people, saw some old friends, had some laughs, some grumpy days. . .all in all though it was a good year. For 2010 I expect the same if not better. I can already tell it's going to be interesting. . .
So thanks again for all the well wishes for the new year and my birthday. Of course I didn't celebrate it because that's just who I am. I'm the big 4 0 which should mean something but my mental age is still quite low(or so I've been told : ) I wish you all the best in 2010 and can't wait to cross paths!!!
Peace and hugs,
Curtis |
That is the question! Howdy all, been a while But my life is nothing if not active On the road for work and currently in rainy northern NY, man what a blast. . .not really but a few days left and then it's Shakori Hills music festival time, yee haw!!! One issue that has come up repeatedly in the last few months, texting. . . When I picked up my first cell phone I had the ability to send and receive taken off. It took the lady 10 minutes to figure out how to do it as it was an "unusual" request???? Over the years I've had several people call me up or ask me why I didn't respond to their text and I'll explain that I never see them, they disappear into text limbo without sending a message back saying that I don't receive them. And it seems that the last year has seen an increase of people questioning my choice. I would have thought it was self evident but I guess not. . .
| | In between being a new uncle, leaving the country a few times, trying to have a social life and work the garden is actually doing okay. It's late as always and not enough attention but we picked 30 cukes and a onion and a squash the other day : ) The basil is growing and so are the carrots. The peas didn't make it : ( but there's hope for the beans!!! It was off to a rocky start with the water pipe somehow getting a cut in it(wonder how that happened : ) and the rabbit proofing I thought I had done. . .well, not so good. Enjoy the pics : ) And happy summer!!!! |
| | While I would have loved to spend every possible moment on Utila, the seasoned traveler in me knew that was courting disaster so with a heavy heart I left two days before my flight to make the trek to Tegus(the capital Tegucigalpa) My stopover point was Telas where I went to a botanical garden(Surprise!!) and Punta Sal. I will say the sunset was gorgeous and while I was awake at first light I couldn't drag myself out of the bed to go snap photos of the sunrise, slack I know. |
It seems like just yesterday I was driving and admiring the trees in their naked beauty, I took a breath and the spring flowers radiantly emerged, now Beltane is upon us and the garden is started. . .time flees I went to see a friend's play which was excellent but I happened upon a friend of a friend who proved that the universe will give you what you need. Just a casual conversation that unbeknownst to him settled a troubling demon or two. You never really know where inspiration or answers will come from. . . I just ate an excellent mango and it carried me back to my first mango ever in 1995. Juice running down my chin, sweet sensations in my mouth and the company of beautiful people. . . Oddly enough I previously decided to attend that event again this year for the first time in a while. . .coincidence or validation I hope your universe is evolving in a manner most beneficial to you! And remember, Carpe diem quam minimum credula postero
| | It's all about the people. You have to depend on them and they on you. From the captain to the instructors and divemasters to your fellow divers to your dive buddy. I've met some cool people and then some I'd rather not have. Here's a smattering from the dives. |
| | There's something about the darkness of a night dive that's very comforting. I know several divers that don't like them for that very reason but to be quite honest even if you can see it coming most underwater critters are more than a match for us. . .so why worry. I still remember my first night dive and descending via the anchor chain and the instructor catching our attention with the flashlight to show a teeny tiny lionfish sheltering under the anchor. It sent shivers down my spine to be near this cute poisonous thing but it was also awesome at the same time. . .
The key with night dives is not too many people, 4 is the max I'd take down. When you're not on your home turf though you don't always have that option, one of the dives had 8 people, way too many, way too many. I hang out at the back because I take photos and between the disturbed sand and the scared critters and people with poor body control it wasn't fun. . .nuff said.
You'll also see one of my issues with my setup. There's this shaded area in the lower right corner of most frames. I still have no idea what it is because it didn't show up in all. . .just the ones I really liked : )
One of the coolest things about night diving is the little darters that congregate on your light. See the last two pics and just try to imagine hundreds of these darting thingies swarming around. And when I say dart, I mean dart, they are moving. I still don't know what they look like.
Night diving, ready. . .enjoy |
| | I told you the next post would be shots from the underwater world of Utila. . .that's it's been 2 months, well, ummm, like, yeah. . .
I went to Mexico for work a few weeks back and I wish I could have managed to swing some diving in Cozumel but it didn't happen, next time. . . These pictures are the maiden voyage for a new setup I bought. Nothing like on site testing. . .I still didn't figure out a few things. I bought my first strobe which I never quite got the hang off, course I didn't read the instruction either. . . Light is the key underwater. One set of pictures I'll share shows how grey everything looks at 70 feet/23 meters and then with the flash. The problem with using the flash on the camera and not a strobe is back scatter for one and two blasts out the subject and three not enough light. All in all, the pictures could be a lot worse and next time they will be a whole lot better.
As for the pictures themselves, you'll get a few installments as there's too many to bombard you with all at once. Also there's a separate section for the night dives and the people I dove with. I'm not going to label each fish. I could give you the family or common name in most cases but to get the specific name I'd have to resort to my guides which happen to be an hour away. If you have a question just drop a comment and I'll answer as best I can : ) I will add memories or interesting factoids though, be afraid, be very afraid. . .
To underwater Utila, Honduras. . . |
| | When people ask what's my occupation, environmental educator is the answer that comes out. Never mind that I haven't worked full time in the field in a few years but it's still my passion. Taking kids out or even receptive adults into nature and showing how it all works and watching the light come on. . .now that's a profession.
One of the things I used to do was stream watch. That's where you have the kids figure out whether the stream is heavily polluted or not. It's hands on, you find cool stuff, you accidentally splash other people, how could you not like it : )
I went over to some friends' house last month and it was their day to monitor the stream. Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!!! So here's a quick glimpse into the wonders of stream watch. I used to keep a net and bucket in my car just in case I ran across a ditch that just begged to be explored, ah, the good ole days. . .
And my next post will be underwater photos from Utila, no really, they will be. . . |
| | Yes, I'm procrastinating mightily : ) I know you all want to see the whale shark(be forewarned it's not the greatest of pictures cuz all I saw was it's rear. A huge rear but a rear nontheless) and other pictures from underwater and it will happen. . .just maybe not today : )
After I booked my trip to Punta Sal I had half a day to kill. . . go back to the room and crash out because I was up at 5:30 that morning to catch the ferry or rent a bike and go to the botanical garden. . .sleep is over rated anyway : ) It's a relatively short bike ride, the worst part is the 3 kilometers from the road to the garden. Up and down, up and down and oh yeah, the gears don't work which makes it a little bit harder, just a little. Anyway I made it there and had nice rubbery legs at the end for my efforts, I need to get on a bike more often. You can get a guide or do the self guided tour, with hindsight I might have gotten the guide. In winter there was not a lot of flowering going on and I could identify that little bit. I'm not so good with trees though and that's what makes up the bulk of the garden. It's nice and worth a trip but I'd try to go during the spring or summer if you get a chance.
My favorite was the bamboo groves, I've just got a thing for them I guess(attribute it to martial art films : ) The heliconia was barely blooming and there was ginger. The rainbow eucalyptus is a gorgeous tree and there were many epiphytes(air plants is a common name for the group). All in all, worth the $6 entrance fee and the sore gluteal muscles from the biking.
Lining the road before you hit the dirt road that takes you to the garden is another one of my favorite trees. The canonball tree. . .the fruits look like cannonballs. I've often wondered if they're eddible. There were also many, many rambutan stands lining the road. I should have taken a picture just so you'll know what they look like. Get some, they're good : )
Now enter the bamboo grove. . . |
| | I realized I had done you all an injustice when I wrote my first blog of the year a few weeks ago. I went freshwater diving for the first time last year and didn't treat ya to a single photo. . .bad Curtis, bad, bad Curtis. So I decided I give you a taste of Florida diving before I give you a taste of Honduras diving(I'm lazy. I have to sort through 8 or 900 hundred photos from diving on Utila. Total I took about 8 gig of photos for my time down there, 2000ish photos. . .am I a slacker, why yes I am : ) I went with a dive shop, Aquatic Safari, from Wilmington, NC my old stomping grounds. We hit 4 different dive spots on the trip and I'll get the pictures up sooner. . . or later : p This was the dive where I saw manatees though. It was weird diving in freshwater, almost like diving in my aquarium. Saw mullet, bass, perch??? and snakes. The manatee and snakes were my favorite. I like the flowing algae too, you'll see. Also the light was good for taking some pictures of my fellow divers.
And under the water we go. . .
|
| | So I'm back in the states and enjoying the oh so warm weather and that helped me decide where to start with my Honduras photos. I spent most of my time in Utila diving but I spent very little time on the beaches there because of these nasty little critters called sand flies. . .pray for a breeze is all I can tell you. So I decided to go with my trip to Punta Sal from Tela. It's a few hours from La Ceila to the west and it was my last stop before I headed to Tegucigalpa for my flight. More pictures will come on Tela but this is my trip to Punta Sal. We didn't see dolphins on the boat ride : ( but the guide knew exactly where a troop of monkeys were so there was that. All in all is was a nice relaxing day. The snorkeling was cloudy, the beaches nice, the water warm and the hiking good. So take a short journey. . .
PS I almost forgot why they call it la bolsa. Everything that goes in the water from the Tela area gets washed up on the shore there. . .and there was a lot of trash : ( |
It always seems that I'm opening these blogs with it's been a while since I blogged, not since last year in fact I hope you all had an excellent end to '08 and '09 is off in the direction you desire. . . Before I jump into Honduras photos I thought I'd sum up the last year and point out a vague direction for this year. 2008. . .was a good year. Lots of firsts, swimming with manatees and whale sharks, my first seahorse, a paddle in Bioluminescent Bay, Puerto Rico, diving in North Carolina. Quite a few great sunrises and sunsets, great live music, many awesome places, meeting some new cool people to enrich my world and even though it is the biggest pain in my existence right now, Facebook, because I have reconnected with so many from so long ago. I finally got to dance my ass off in Utila, Honduras(dancing my ass off is a treat I don't often get to experience) I had a decent garden. I got to touch rock again and gaze out over the horizon while hanging on the side of a mountain. Some hugs but not nearly enough(I mean how can you have too many hugs, foolishness I tell ya, just plain crazy talk) Yeah, it was a good year. . . 2009. . . will be a great year!!! I've already got the garden at my sister's planned out and the daylily, iris, hyacinth, daffodil, gladiolus spectacular will be done. I am going to the Netherlands and Switzerland and maybe Finland and Sweden. There will be a diving excursion, Galapagos, Red Sea, Australia or something, it will happen. There will be some tennis, ultimate and volleyball played. I'll put finishing my book down but that's going to be a true challenge. Two art shows. Don't forget watching some sunrises and sunsets, a lot!!! Some snuggles, some hugs, a kiss or twenty It's going to be a good year. As I glanced back over the year in blog I see I neglected a few things, I'll see what can be done to rectify that injustice. I wish you all the best in 2009 and drop in from time to time, the water's fine. . . The pictures are from my time in Orlando last year, I went to a botanical garden, imagine that I was going to add some sunset pictures from this year but I'll save them for later.
